Mathematical and Physical Modelling of Transient Multi-Phase Flows in a Ladle Shroud during Start-Up

The Ladle Shroud has become an important part of secondary steelmaking, with its role in reducing liquid steel contamination and process improvements. Due to the inherent negative pressure at lower nozzle–Ladle joint, it is well known that Shrouds, protecting flows between a tundish below, can suffer from inadvertent ingress air. Therefore, there need apply inert gas injection joint. In present paper, 3D transient multi-phase simulations occurring for Reverse Tapered during start-up were studied using CFD software ANSYS Fluent 19.1. This allowed us study initial flow developed potential reoxidation, based on first principles approach. Time-dependent phase fields as attendant velocity turbulence obtained, resulting prediction turbulent filling. Additionally, some phenomena like splashing air suction observed mathematically. A full-scale water model was used qualitatively validate inside Shroud, absence injection.
